        Core Privacy Commitment: Smart Backup & Restore is designed to process and store your personal backup archives locally on your device. We do not sell, stream, or upload your private personal files, photos, or contacts to external servers.
    

1. Information We Collect & How It Is Used

Our application accesses certain data on your device strictly to perform user-initiated backup and restore operations:

Contacts Data: Accessed only when you choose to backup or restore contacts. Data is packaged locally into standard vCard (.vcf) files.
Photos, Videos, & Audio Files: Accessed via Android MediaStore APIs when selected for backup or restoration.
Document Files: Selected document formats (such as PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Text, and compressed archives) are archived locally.
App Preferences: Local application configurations (such as theme mode and language preferences) are stored locally in SharedPreferences.

2. Android Permissions Used

To provide core backup and restore functionality, Smart Backup & Restore requests the following Android permissions:

Permission	Purpose
READ_CONTACTS & WRITE_CONTACTS	Allows the application to export your contact list into a vCard archive and restore contacts back into your device's contact store upon request.
INTERNET & ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE	Enables network connectivity for displaying advertisement content, checking for application maintenance status, and sending push notifications.
POST_NOTIFICATIONS	Used on Android 13 (API Level 33) and higher to display real-time progress notifications during active backup and restore operations.

3. Data Storage & Security

We prioritize data security through multiple local protective measures:

AES-256-GCM Encryption: You can optionally enable authenticated AES-256 encryption with PBKDF2 key derivation to password-protect your backup archives (.sbak).
Checksum Verification: Built-in SHA-256 cryptographic checksums verify file integrity and protect against data corruption.
Local Storage: Backup archives are stored locally in application-private storage or user-selected destination directories.

4. Third-Party Services & Advertising

Smart Backup & Restore integrates reputable third-party SDKs for analytics, notifications, and advertising. These third parties may collect non-personally identifiable diagnostic or device information according to their respective privacy policies:

Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) & UMP: Displays advertisements and manages user privacy consent. Google Privacy Policy

5. Children's Privacy

Smart Backup & Restore is designed for general audiences and is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the European Union). 6. Data Retention & User Control

Since your backup files remain stored locally on your device, you have complete control over your data at all times:

You can view, verify, or delete backup archive files directly within the Files tab inside the application.
Uninstalling the application will remove locally stored app-private backup archives unless exported to external storage.

We may update our Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our practices or statutory requirements. Any updates will be published on this page with an updated effective date.
